Monday-Friday, 10:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m.; Saturday 10:00 a. m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday 1:00 p. m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed all major Federal Holidays. The walk is in Kiptopeke State Park, a 640 acre site on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay. The site of Kiptopeke State Park was purchased by the Virginia Ferry Corporation for the northern terminus of the ferry which traveled from Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore. In 1949, when the terminus was moved from Cape Charles, the site was named Kiptopeke Beach in honor of the younger brother of the king of the Accawmack Indians who befriended early settlers to the area. "Kiptopeke" means "big water". This walk is in Northampton County.
