Description: Hours are Mon-Sat, 7am-8pm, Sun 7am-7:30 pm, Thanksgiving 11 am- 7pm. **Closed Thanksgiving morning; Christmas and January 2 thru 24th. Trail goes through Amana and Middle Amana, two of the historic Amana Colonies and incorporates most of the Amana Kolonieweg, a recreational trail that circles a lake and connects the two villages. The Amana Colonies are a National Historic Landmark: over 400 buildings in the villages are listed as part of the landmark. The Colonies feature Iowa's only woolen mill, wineries, meat shops, a brewery, bakeries, unique museums relating to the history of the communal living in the early Colonies. The trail is mostly flat and on paved surfaces, though one section is crushed limestone.

Start Point: Colony Inn Restaurant, 748 47th Ave, Amana, IA. From I-80 take exit 225 and proceed north on Hwy 151. At the junction with Hwy 6 (about 5 miles) turn right and continue on Hwy 151 to Amana. At the traffic signal in Amana (220th Trail) turn right. At the V in the road, veer right onto 47th Ave. Park in the Colony Inn lot, about one block down on the right. Enter restaurant through the left-most door and ask for the box at the bar.
